Which Chinese Dynasty was the Greatest?
This is a simple topic. You guys should debate it. Personally I say it was the Tang Dynasty, it was pretty strong and China reached it's greatest influence in culture, power, size, influence, wealth, and prosperity.
Dynasties not legible:
Xia: There's too much debate over it's authenticity and if it was even a real dynasty, not just a culture, even if it did exist, which it may very well haven't.
The "Heavenly Emperors: Again, most likely fictional.
Select few of the Northern Dynasties during the northern/southern dynasties period: They were foreigners.
Cheng/Zhong: Does anyone seriously like Yuan Shu?
Yuan: The Mongols basically
Liao: Manchus
Jin: Again, Manchus
Qing: FUCKING MANCHUS! But did expand a lot.
Xixia: Foreign tribe for the period. Are part of China today but again only inner china counts.
Nanzhao: Foreigners for the period
Japan: ....I adore Japan too but come on.
Tibet: ....They aren't ethnically Chinese dude. Still a great but short lived empire though.
Korea: ...WHY?
Vietnam/Dai Viet/Nanyue/Annam: You ignorant f*ck! At most they're half Chinese!
Britain: Stop
USA: ...Dude we haven't annexed China yet.
Taiwan: Ok enough, I'm ending this little joke here.

I would say the Han as they lead the ground work for the model of other Chinese dynasties.

Re: Which Chinese Dynasty was the Greatest?
Actually they were most likely one of the worst Chinese dynasties, they became stagnant and Ming emperors were famously bad compared to even previous dynasties. China became stagnant, it economically stagnated, had a financial collapse due to it's poor system, it's civil service exams were among the worst in Chinese history being too focused on memorization not Intelligence(Much more so than earlier dynasties), and they were strongly isolationist like Japan which means they fell behind in technology and power and when they did fall, they did more damage to China than the Qing as the Qing mostly followed the Ming but mixed it a bit with their culture, and also were isolationist. And as such, the Ming did more damage to the modern day China than the Qing as the Qing simply followed many of their practices.GeorgeIVofBritannia wrote:Obviously Ming.

Re: Which Chinese Dynasty was the Greatest?
The Ming probably had the most potential but lost it after Zheng He's voyages ended.
I'd say that the Tang Dynasty was the greatest.
Why? Population boom, technological advances, control of the eastern ends of the Silk Road, increases in culture and literature, increasing tribute from the tributary states, and increased religious diversity due to the rise in Buddhists.

I feel that out of your choices, the Song. Otherwise, the Yuan.

Re: Which Chinese Dynasty was the Greatest?
Well, since you eliminated practically half of the choices, I'm gonna have to go with the Tang dynasty
