Why do they get historical fighting wrong in the media
With the huge increase in people studying hema ( historical European Martal Art's) and the fact there are actually guide books call treatises for fighting, do movie fights keep useing the same boring and often silly depictions of medieval sword fighting and other Martal Art's?

Re: Why do they get historical fighting wrong in the media
(This is just an educated guess) Probably because Asian martial-arts and all of that peaked in the late 20th century, and they're imprinted as a nostalgic icon of (Asia) and such. To be honest, it's just slewed across the board to attract audiences to movies, and anyways, it's cheaper to copy something than to actually do a study of it in history.
tl;dr The comical martial arts is nostalgic, slewed, and cheaper to "produce" in the film industry than to do research of actual martial arts.
