Dutch History
From Feudalism to the Modern Day, this topic is to talk about the Dutch in the Netherlands, Flanders, or anywhere in the low countries.

Re: Dutch History
I have just started to read about the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This is an excellent topic (more discussion forthcoming). It lends itself well to the Luxembourg topic we also have.

The Battle of the Golden Spurs.
Basically the only major victory in Flemish history, It started to redefine Medieval Warfare and changed the history of Flanders.

The low countries count too. Anyways, how about we discuss a different conflict?

True enough, but it appears to have had a major effect on Dutch history. What I am reading (keep in mind, I'm learning as I discuss this) is that this particular event played a crucial role in the development of Belgian national identity, in the idea of an indepdendent Belgium, and thus in the breakup of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1839(?).
Keep that date because it's when the U.K. committed to protecting an independent Belgium, which is what drags them into WWI. Very cool to see that progression!
