What if China and the Soviets went to war?
Over the 1960s, relations between China and the USSR fell apart. Issues included Stalin's refusal to help Mao build nukes, differences between Marxism and Maoism, and Mao's revival of the old issue regarding Qing territorial concessions. This eventually led to a border conflict along the Manchurian frontier which killed about 50 on both sides. Both governments stepped down.
But what if they didn't?

Re: What if China and the Soviets went to war?
I don't think it was likely for a full scale war to occur, both because of the ideological similarities between China and the USSR and how this would be seen in the West as a sign of disorder with the communist countries, but also because of the huge scale of Chinese troops that the Soviets could only beat with nukes, which China also had during the late 1960s.
I think what would happen would be a massive war between Communist countries, with those pro-Soviet against those who are pro-Chinese. Nukes would be launched on both sides and cause lots of damage, especially to China due to having major cities closer to the Soviets borders than vice versa. The US would probably help China due to the fear of the USSR becoming even more powerful if they win and give them arms and resources. It would probably drag on for many years if the world is still alive from the nukes being launched and end in a stalemate for both sides, leaving the Capitalist countries as the strongest faction in the world
