Time Travel

Post by BigMacArthur on Mon Jul 10, 2017 3:14 pm

If you could travel to any point in history (e.g. 1648-1700) what would it be? Many people consider the past to be better, or they are just curious of what it was like back then. This is in general world history, but if you want to be in a specific country in a specific time, specify.

I personally would travel to 1871-1915, the Le Belle Epoque, as it was a period of nationalism, monarchism, scientific advancement and peace in the Western World.

Go back in time and stop the first world war from happening, then give both sides nukes so Europe is preserved in Cold War forever!

There's this problem I have with questions like this. I mean don't get me wrong, I love history and all, but with things like this I have to think, "In what historical period would I be least likely to die in for either my race, religion, or sex", and to all of them the best answer I can think of is "Eh....."

Go to 1980 and stay until the end of the decade.

I missed out on the neon-soaked, synthpop-backed, era of cool toys and classic video games that was the 1980s, and I'd love to fix that.

"Take me back to 1984, I cannot stand the future anymore" -Kalax, Take me Back

However, I do not like the idea of living in a world without Cartoon Network, the GameCube, or a lot of the other stuff I enjoy as a 21st century dude, so although it would be awesome to live through my favorite decade, I don't think I'd do it.

Well, the 2000s, 90s or 80s were certainly decent times if that is your concern.

I would like to live in New York from 1770 - 1783. I think it would be also cool to live in Paris from 1789 -1799. I would like to live in New York because I think it would be interesting to live during the American Revolution, I would travel to Boston time to time if I lived around that time as well. And for the Paris part I would like to watch the rallies and beginnings of the revolution happen would also be interesting

Traveling to Paris in 1789 is like wanting to travel to Paris in the Early 14th century.

[1816-1848]Traveling the world at the time of the latin american independence wars would be pretty cool. Some much was going on after the fall of napoleon...So much nationalism, and so many changes occurred at the time. Seeing such an area as big as south america change in merely two decades is amazing. Not only that, but to hear about the great heroes of it must really be quite the story.

1960s - 1980s. Due to the great bands I could now see in concert like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc..
