Founding of Trier
I was wondering what the oldest city in Germany is, so I looked it up and found this on Wikipedia.
"According to a legend recorded in the 12th-century Deeds of the Treveri, the city was founded by an eponymous, otherwise-unrecorded prince of Assyria named Trebeta, placing the city's founding legend independent of and centuries before ancient Rome's. A medieval inscription on the façade of the Red House in Trier market stated:"
Is this claim true? Is there good evidence for it? And how did an Assyrian prince get to Germany?
When did Trier become Germanized?

Re: Founding of Trier
If we follow the legend, then the founder of the city is/was Trebeta, and he was an exile from Assyria.
If we go with the history, it is disputed that he was Assyrian and is purported to be the son of the second king of Germany.
It seems to have been Germanized since it existed.
