damn rooskie commies... just when we thought they were gone, now they've come back again to doubt our beautiful democracy on message boards. might as well be turrists, in my opinion.

Being neutral yet having trade relations with both sides is the best option in my opinion. You would basically stay out of trouble (yes, I know it is not that simple, but you get my point) and benefiting from a free market.

I do agree with that statement. but Democracy ends up being flawed in most applications leading to either oligarchical rule or an autocracy.Last_surprise_commieV3 wrote:YOU NEVER SEE IT COMING! -Persona 5normie™ wrote:damn rooskie commies... just when we thought they were gone, now they've come back again to doubt our beautiful democracy on message boards. might as well be turrists, in my opinion.

I would also be neutral because I don't support some actions on both sides of the Iron Curtain, and because you don't have to be involved in the game of DEFCON everytime a small island gets nukes.

To be fair, communism, where ever it is attempted, results in chronic shortages and discontent. This in turn results in a violent suppression of opposition.

First: You mean sovjet-like state-socialists, don't you?
Second: Well, not one time was a socialist experiment left alone. Not one "socialist" nation was allowed to create itself in peace and left to live in harmony. Coups, embargos, war, funded unrest, election fraud and the list goes on. It is no wonder they were unable to show any result when all nations of the world pointed their guns at them and only waited for a sign of weakness.
Third: What about libertarian socialist "nations"? They increased productivity, qualitiy of life and so on. While it is true, they never lasted very long (due to losing civil war, not because of internal flaws), they still achieved great things.
Fourth: Nations that tried state-socialism were shit-poor before and at least less shit-poor while they tried it. Russia was a backwater semi-feudal monarchy before, and look at it now. A corrupt, oligarchy. Just like the US. (They grow so fast xD)
Same goes for yugoslavia. Their market socialism was rather effective most of the time.

Neutral, because they both commited war-crimes to further their geopolitical goals.

While I think the Western Bloc is better, I do not believe the fall of the USSR was a good event. Despite the tension it caused, having another power to check America's was ultimately beneficial. It's like in business, competition is key. I also, believe the lives of the people in the USSR and satellite states were better until 1991. Since then, birth rates have crumbled, economy's have stagnated, crime has skyrocketed, and ethnic tensions have flared. It could've been a lot better if they eased out of it.

I believe in a capitalist Society because you can better yourself, under communism no matter how hard you work you can never get ahead and there's no free thought.

Definitely I would choose the USSR, since the United States was such a propaganda machine. The USSR did produce propaganda, but nowhere near to the extent of the United States. Life in the Soviet Union was not bad at all. It was very peaceful (trust me).

As an American, I think the world was a better place with the Soviet Union. Of course the cold war was terrible, but the lives of the people in Eastern Europe would be much better.Hashem wrote:Definitely I would choose the USSR, since the United States was such a propaganda machine. The West killed far less people. Mao alone killed 78 million (more than all of ww2). I side with the West 100%. Imo the Cold War isn't over until all Communist countries feel as guilty as Germany.
On the point of countering American hegemony. China's military spending will surpass the US by 2025 and in GDP by 2018.

The US will still be able to fight two front wars halfway around the world but so will China soon.

Now thats a much different story, death is not part of communism at all. And you don't know that for sure, because then again, the United States was a propaganda machine, I'm sure they said the same shit about the USSR, Vietnam, and other Communist countries.DavidlVofGeorgia wrote:The West killed far less people.
