Charles I of the Austro-Hungarian empire
Hi,
I have heard that Charles 1 was responsible for the Germans loosing the first world war as he was more focused on ending the fighting as opposed to winning the war. What are your thoughts on this? Is there any truth to it?

Re: Charles I of the Austro-Hungarian empire
I don't think it is simple as to say 1 person lost the whole war. I think the weakness of Austria Hungary did a lot to hurt the war effort, requiring more German troops to help them on the Eastern Front, but I think there were bigger reasons for the Central powers losing the war, such as destroying American ships and getting the USA to join the war.
(btw I see this topic is in the off topic forum, but I think it has a better fit in the European history forum since this is more of a historical discussion

Charles? No. By the time he became emperor the empire was already doomed.

Hey guys, thanks for your input. It seems clear that the main view is against Charles being responsible. Any online resources for me to read to justify your point of view would be appreciated.
As for Mr Trolldemort, I agree that 'European history' would be a better topic than 'Off Topic Discussion', the only thing I need to figure out now is how to change it. Would you know how to do so?
