How Rommel impacted the course of the war ? Did he actually prolonged the war by 1 to 2 years in favor of the Nazis ? What do you think?

He became an icon in the West during and after the war, especially after the movie was made, as the "good nazi", so to speak. It was kind of a propaganda thing, but more of an organic myth building off itself. The idea was that Germans could identify with him and reject national socialism while retaining some sense of pride, and it could help reconciliation, etc. This led to the "Rommel myth" of his exploits being seriously overstated. Realistically, though he was certainly an adept military commander, it is also possible his Afrikacorps even diverted resources that could have gone to the Eastern front to make more of a difference, and thus he actually shortened the war. But regardless, though he is interesting and certainly was impactful, he made an overall minute difference in the broad scope of the war.

Ah Der Deutsche Afrika Korps. DAK 16 10 16 memes all over here. Idk if he was the nice nazi, because afaik it seems he was the one that showed although they lost the war, they could still be considered a prideful imperial nation that actually controlled colonial regions of Afrika, and who knows what memes he had used to maintain his dominance, Kappa.

I think Rommel was just a General who wanted to win the war and didn't care much about the politics of the Nazis. That's the reason for me why Rommel tried to kill Hitler in 1944 as the war was lost and not in 1939-40

He is slightly overrated. I wouldn't even say he was the best German commander, but definitely one of them.
