Luxembourgian History
While today Luxembourg is a tiny little afterthought in Europe, most people aren't aware that Luxembourg was once one of it not the most powerful states in Germany and Central Europe, at it's height ruling not only the far larger Duchy of Luxembourg but also Bohemia, Brandenburg, Hungary and Croatia. While the Hapsburg dynasty ultimately became the de facto hereditary leaders of the HRE, the Golden Bull of 1356 was designed to keep the House of Luxembourg in power something that might have happened if the ruling family hadn't went extinct( ironically via marriage giving their electoral vote to the very family they'd rigged the system against).
I find that people today just think of Luxembourg as that tiny little country to the south of the Low Countries and have no idea how powerful it's rulers once were.

Re: Luxembourgian History
Most HRE history is so complicated and irrelevant to modern politics that it is simply ignored.

Re: Luxembourgian History
When I saw the title, I thought "a history of Belgium?"
I don't have a great deal of knowledge on Luxembourg, its history, or what is going on there right now. I just know that it's small and has been a part of Belgium, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and other kingdoms or empires.
It feels like it's history is their history. Which could be an interesting discussion in and of itself.

Re: Luxembourgian History
Fun fact: Luxembourg is currently the only duchy still in existence.
I guess that's something to be proud of. Sounds a lot cooler and less generic than kingdom.
