Congo Free State

When Leopold II colonized the Congo he did not make it a Belgian colony, he just made it his own depraved and sick playground where even for the time was extremely brutal.
What is your opinion about Leopold II? do you think Belgium should pay for Leopold's actions?

Leopold II is one of history's most despicable human beings. What he did in the Congo was awful and frankly a genocide.

True, and his actions still hurt that region of the world today.

Leopold II`s actions were horrible and I agree with EmperorTigerstar that it is a genocide but Belgium shouldn`t pay for his actions since it would force the descendants of the people who opposed what he did and the people who forced him to turn the Congo Free State into the Belgian Congo to pay for something that their ancestors opposed

If I recall correctly, the Belgians have a generous foreign aid program.

What Leopold did is terrible. Belgium needs to make up for those mistakes.

I agree. However, they should definitely go for aid that does not directly give money to the government. I know USAID does not give money directly anymore, but I am not sure if the BTC (Belgian Development Agency) follows similar guidelines.

Also, the DRC needs to be stabilized before aid can be effective.
