Should Have India Hit Colonialism
Should have Colonialism hit India
Should have Colonialism hit India? Shod have the British colonized India. Okay, I personally HATE and Like Colonialism. I hate I because it damages the natives, culture, religion, and land. But it modernizes it and develops it more. This topic is sort of like an Alternate History Hub video. I put a poll on this topic, so you can vote. You can also debate in this topic

Re: Should have Colonialism hit India
This is personally interesting for me since I grew up in India most of my life. While the simple answer here is "No". While I don't blame the British for most of modern India's problems, I strongly believe that the roots of those problems lies in the Empire. And they won't go away any time soon considering the diverse nature of India and the population problem we have that no politician seems to want to address. It didn't destroy culture completely, most are still Hindus and Islam has a lot of followers. Honestly, if anything, it exploited it. Making Sati and the caste system legal was a way to turn us on each other. The colonization process was brutal. It destroyed the economy. BUT, it gave rise to the idea of India as a single entity. And since that's what I derive my identity from and that's where modern India's strength lies, I can't say it's all bad. Just a very very large majority.NationStates wrote:Should have Colonialism hit India? Shod have the British colonized India. Okay, I personally HATE and Like Colonialism. As to talks about modernization. The Mughal empire was one of the richest empires in the world at the time the British were trying to gain a foothold there. They traded with the Mughals, and then the Marathas. And after that, they traded with the smaller kingdoms, the Nizam, etc. I don't think colonization was needed for India to gain access to modernity. That's a flawed idea imo. If anything, colonization restricted access to those innovations because Indians were not allowed to make use of them. They were for the White Men. There were far too many "No dogs or Indians" signs were a real thing. Modernization was not brought to us as a people. It just shoved us off and made space for the British to use it until we kicked them out. Hell, if they could have, they would have taken their trains with them when they left too.

I totally agree with your descision! See, it also ruins empires and messes the whole country up.Nishanth128 wrote:This is personally interesting for me since I grew up in India most of my life.
