You are allowed to make multiple choices. I could only add a maximum of 10 choices, so sorry if there wasn't enough.

Assad is a no-brainer, the man still drives to work and regularly interacts with the citizens of Damascus. I've been following a number of journalists who have been in Syria and every one has repeatedly mentioned how much his people love and support him; the West just wants to slander and slaughter him with their terrorist insurgencies just like what they did with Qaddafi.

Ultimately, Assad is necessary for stability in the region. Though maybe the Kurds deserve some form of an ethnostate, much of the war's factions will never be able to realistically ultimately prevail and construct a legitimate long-term state, so the longer Syria is not under a centralized control, the longer the region will foster Islamic extremism, violence and force people from their homes to accelerate related crises like the European refugee crisis. The only people who benefit long-term from disrupting the Assad government are Israel and the Kurds.

Reluctantly Assad. I can't say I'm a fan of the man's politics, but when it comes to stabilizing Syria and rebuilding it, he's probably the best bet.

I support the Kurds, it seems they are wholly focused on destroying ISIS and they have a very liberal system. I'm generally neutral on Assad vs Rebels. I fully support an independent Kurdistan.

I support Assad and the kurds (Gonna trigger some turks with this).
I mean, the opposition already split in four. They're not united and russia is finishing off ISIS which is always nice.
The kurds is are as Last_surprise_commieV3 said a No-brainer.
They're a huge ethnic group in the middle east and they deserve a country.

The FSA practically doesn't exist anymore. Their flag is flown by supporters of al-Nusra/HTS as well as FSA members who have joined the SDF. Ultimately I hope that Assad and the SDF can work out their differences after ISIS is gone. I don't support the jihadist opposition and the Turkey-backed opposition.

Exactly, the once united opposition split in different groups. Next they'll start fighting one another.LyriaMapping wrote:The FSA practically doesn't exist anymore. I hope Assad and Russia can clean up this mess over there.
Re: Which faction(s) do you support in the Syrian Civil War?
I am only in favour of kurds. Even though they themselves don't see it as an kurdish struggle, but rather an struggle of all people in the region. This is why the big ethnicities (arab, assyrian, kurds) all have their own representative and not just one for the kurds. So I wouldn't say they are that much in favor of an ethnostate. They are socialists and partially anarchist. I like that

What about his many human rights abuses? Surly, they would stop him from being the best option?

Of all the sides here, only one I can support... Kurdistan
and the USA of course, but they are supporting the opposition which is not much better than Assad

Re: Which faction(s) do you support in the Syrian Civil War?
Sidenote on the poll btw... The SDF are not only Kurds. In fact, the part of the army involved in the siege of Raqqa is about 75% Syrian Arabs. Far to the north are the cities which are controlled by purely YPG/YPJ Kurdish forces. If Kurdistan is ever going to happen, they do not have the means of the large SDF-controlled area as bargaining for their own state. Their Kurdish state's border will probably end around al-Hasakah and Suluk. Definitely not west of the Euphrates river.

Assad. If people are going to support democracy and legitimize that political system, they need to start by supporting legitimate governments first. I also don't see how creating another state with deep ethnic rivalries in the region will help matters. Kurdistan should be something that is given freely, not taken or imposed by outside powers wielding influence. I feel like that will be Israel 2.0.

I support the Kurds because they are the cleost thing this mess has to "good guys", and I reluctantly hope Assad wins because the other options are horrific.

I voted for Rojava because I think they should split from Syria and would like to seem them be the ones to defeat ISIS. In terms of the rest of the country, I'm not a fan of Assad and I despise every other side, so I couldn't really pick a side. I'm also an American who's strongly against foreign intervention.

The Kurds are commies at the moment so I can't really support them.Assad forgoing all the supposed "human rights violations" which continue to be disproven, As someone of Syrian descent I can tell you that Assad (while not perfect) us by far the best for Syria

Yes but there will never be a Kurdistan because turkey would throw a hissy fit.As well as they pretty much have a home in Iraq because the last to Heads of States of Iraq are Kurdish.A true Kurdish state would be far to hard to do.And we need more then some Kurdish commies from north east Syria

I couldn't agree more,Assad is nothing like Qaddafi KEK ,theres a funny video of Assad listening to Qaddafi blabber about his usual gibberish...and then you just see Bashar holding back laughter at him.Its really funny I wish I could find itleo_the_greatest wrote:Assad is a no-brainer, the man still drives to work and regularly interacts with the citizens of Damascus. Re: Which faction(s) do you support in the Syrian Civil War?
Right now the West wants a Kurdish state. What happens if later when the West becomes dis interested? I think the Kurds will just implode. There is already large ideological disagreement between the communists in Turkey and Syria(?) and the pro-American Kurds in Iraq. If Kurdistan did unify it would immediately go into a civil war.

Re: Which faction(s) do you support in the Syrian Civil War?
Syrian government (Assad) ensures stability in the region and has even spoken about granting autonomy to some previously oppressed minorities (Kurds, Assyrians etc). I think Assad and Kurds can work perfectly fine. They are the only groups, that still seem to have something resembling hierarchy and goals.
P. S.
Who is this one edgy person who voted for ISIS?
P. P. S.
If you aren't edgy and genuinely support them, you are pleased to state your argument here. That would be... interesting...

Don't care about the Turks. Everything this people do just mess all up. I'm full of their lies and all. I just want them to civilise because i really know what they can do. They continue with their barbaric ideas about Allah, terrorism and all this stuff. Trust me i live alongside them .

They also are ISIS sponsors in the first place and finance all kinds of terror activities. And they do have an ultra-muslim government, media and president... (or should i say padishah Erdogan?)
